The company is the first satellite internet service provider to reach the entire country
Viasat has just completed the expansion of its residential internet service across Brazil. Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Piauí, Tocantins and Roraima complete the list of 26 states – plus the Federal District – now connected to reliable, high-speed broadband.
When Viasat announced the service launch in July, the company also made public its commitment to reach all states before the end of 2020. With the full rollout, Viasat becomes the first – and only – satellite internet service provider (ISP) capable of making high-speed internet available across the country.
The expanded coverage comes with more good news for Brazilians: the Viasat 30 Mega service plan. It offers a 160 GB monthly data allowance – twice as much as Viasat’s best plan so far – and speeds of up to 30 Mbps.
“The completion of Viasat’s residential service rollout, combined with the new premium Viasat 30 Mega plan, results in more Brazilian families and small businesses having access to reliable, high-speed satellite-based service — even in the hardest-to-reach locations,” said Bruno Henriques, commercial director, Viasat Brazil.
More speed and capacity
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, telecommunications and internet have been considered essential services in Brazil. With more people at home, Viasat noted an increasing interest in connectivity among its residential internet customers.
“During this process, we understood that our clients have an increased demand for higher speeds and data packages in the pandemic scenario,” Henriques said.
And the new Viasat 30 Mega plan offers what is best in Brazilian satellite technology. This translates into more speed to perform daily tasks, such as video conferences, working remotely, and even running a small business.
With this launch, customers in all corners of Brazil can choose between three plans available on the residential portfolio, designed to meet different connectivity needs:
– Viasat 30 Mega: 160 GB monthly allowance and up to 30 Mbps speed
– Viasat 20 Mega: 80 GB monthly allowance and up to 20 Mbps speed
– Viasat 10 Mega: 40 GB monthly allowance and up to 10 Mbps speed
*Note: These plans are valid as of Oct. 29, 2020. For the most current plan information, go to the Viasat Brazil plans page.
All plans include unlimited chat and browsing and a daily free zone from 2-7 a.m. (local time). They also include in-home Wi-Fi and upload speeds of up to 3 Mbps.
“Now Viasat can offer unique services, unmatched in the Brazilian satellite market, and keep with its commitment to the country when it matters most,” Henriques said.
Viasat’s residential internet service for Brazil uses bandwidth from the Telebras SGDC-1 satellite. The company is also working together with Visiontec to provide in-market sales, fulfillment, and technical support for the residential internet service, as well as to register and train partners in each region.
